         <title>Community Liaison Specialist</title> 
       	 <description><![CDATA[Fiji - Marketing - Chemonics International seeks a Community Liaison Specialist to engage community participation for the anticipated United States Agency of International Development (USAID) funded Coastal Community Adaptation Program (CCAP) based in Suva, Fiji. This 5-year program will focus on responding to the challenges posed by climate change in three main components: 1) Rehabilitating or constructing new, small scale social and economic infrastructure 2) Building capacity for community engagement for disaster prevention and preparedness; and 3) Integrating climate resilient policies and practices into long term land use plans and building standards. 

Responsibilities include: Working with local community leaders and members to ensure community buy-in and ownership, Supervising a network of community mobilizers across the region to engage community participation in all phases of the program, Conduct project awareness campaigns and host community-level events to engage dialogue and solicit input for project activities and Interact with local government and community officials to provide cultural background and communications support to the project. 


Qualifications:
Degree in communications, sociology, international studies, environmental management or other relevant fields. At least five years of experience working with local communities in outreach and communications. Ability to work in a multinational regional setting. Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills. Fluent English and at least one Pacific Island language required
